Discover Angel Cards: A Soulful Practice of Self-Kindness and Reflection

There is a quiet rhythm to my days at Lekker Plekkie.

Some mornings begin with coffee on the stoep, paintbrushes laid out beside me, paper waiting. The garden is awake before I am – birds moving between trees, light shifting gently across the table. This is where my angel cards are born.

Not in a rush. Not from a plan. But from presence.

Where the Angel Cards Began

The angel cards didn’t start as a product idea.

They began as moments… moments where I needed reassurance myself. Times when life felt full, uncertain, or loud, and the only thing that helped was slowing down enough to listen inward.

Painting angels became a way to soften those moments. Each one emerged quietly, carrying a feeling rather than a message at first. Only later did words find their place as simple, gentle reminders rather than answers.

These cards are not about predicting the future. They are about creating a pause — a practice of reflection and self-kindness.

Painting on the Stoep

The stoep at Lekker Plekkie is my favourite place to paint.

There is no studio pressure here. Just natural light, the sounds of the garden, and time moving at its own pace. I often paint with a cup of coffee beside me, trusting the process rather than forcing an outcome.

This is important to me, because the energy that goes into creating something is felt when it is received.

Each angel card is painted slowly and intentionally, not to be perfect, but to feel kind.

What These Angel Cards Are (and Aren’t)

These angel cards are:

  • Gentle prompts for reflection
  • Companions for moments of uncertainty
  • A reminder to meet yourself with kindness

They are not:

  • Loud affirmations
  • Predictive tools
  • Something you need to “get right”

There is no wrong way to use them.

You might draw a card in the morning before the day begins, or keep one nearby while journaling. You might choose a card when you feel overwhelmed, or gift one to someone who needs quiet encouragement.

A Practice of Self-Kindness

At the heart of these cards is self-kindness.

Self-kindness is not about fixing yourself or becoming better. It’s about creating enough safety and softness to hear what you already know.

The angel cards are simply a doorway – an invitation to slow down, breathe, and reconnect.

Bringing Them Into the World

Sharing these angel cards through my website feels like extending a piece of Lekker Plekkie beyond the garden gate.

Each set carries the same intention with which it was created: calm, warmth, and gentle support.

If you choose to welcome them into your life, I hope they meet you exactly where you are and remind you that you don’t need to rush your way forward.

Sometimes, the quiet moments are enough.
